OVERVIEW

Keeping Your Garden Maintained

Regularly trimming hedges and maintaining plants keeps your garden looking fantastic and stops growth from encroaching on paths and fences.

At Peter's Mates Rates Mowing, our service is reliable and won't stretch your budget. We trim hedges to keep them neat, tidy, and in good shape. When it comes to other garden plants and small trees, we also perform pruning. So when you get us to take care of your garden, we will not only give things a good trim, but we will prune back overgrown branches, clear out dead wood, and give them a nice shape. After we finish we'll then clean up by disposing of all the clippings.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Hedge Care FAQ

How often and when should hedges be trimmed?

How often and when to trim depends on the hedge variety and the season. Fast-growing species (like Lilly Pilly or Pittosporum) generally require trimming every 6 to 8 weeks during the active spring and summer growing seasons to remain dense and tidy. Slower-growing varieties (such as box hedges or conifers) typically only need shaping once or twice a year.

For timing, late autumn and early spring are the most optimal times for major trims to promote healthy new shoots. We avoid trimming in extreme summer heat to protect fresh cuts from leaf scorch.

How high can you trim?

We have electric tools that let us reach high up from the ground. For really tall hedges, we will need to take a look first to tell you whether we can do it safely.
